The Friarbot has come and gone from the Chesapeake, and with it brought back fond memories of competition. The Friarbot had an outstanding year, recording many wins and new innovations.
During competition, the Friarbot showed its strength when lifting the trackball with its elevating arm. On numerous occasions, the Friarbot garnered large amounts of points by raising the trackball up and over the overpass. The autonomous code programmed into the bot allowed us to gain a cool lead on teams before the human players even took control. All in all, team 1168 was a big player this year at Chesapeake, even posting fourth place for a good while during the competitive tournament.
After a series of penalties awarded to our alliance partners and some close losses in the last three rounds, the Friarbot finished in thirty-eighth place out of sixty teams. One often wonders what would have happened if our team had won at least one of those close defeats -- but for now, team 1168 prepares for the next year by experimenting on new innovations on the off-season.
Cheers to the Friarbot!
